If You Love Something Let It Go

Image
S4E7   If You Love Something Let It Go A silhouette enters a dark hallway at night. He flicks the light switch and two guys with tommy-guns riddle him with bullets. A newspaper spins it’s headline “ Gang War Breaks Out In Berlin ” while bullet holes pierce a car windshield. The Jan 14th editions are flying off news stands as even in 1931 Germany “ if it bleeds it leads. ” More tommy-gun murder, this time in a cat-house. Newspaper reporters yammer for a quote from Buddha with Jacob hanging close. “ Four bloody murders in one night! ” “ No comment ” says Buddha. Eventually Buddha has had enough  reporter yammer and in no uncertain terms explains he can’t speculate on anything except that “ the Berlin police will establish order in the city. ”   So have a nice day. <>     <>     <> Iris opens on one of Dr Anno’s experimental substances filling me with dread and I have to confess I’m still having weasel nightmares. He loads a   syringe with Pervitin and it’s Gereon gett

Making Eyes at Dulcinea

S4E6 - Making Eyes at Dulcinea We open to a prison camp and I’m assuming it’s Gereon once again, but no. The title card “Frauengefangnis Oranienburg Aussenlager” leads google to an X rated movie  “Barbed Wire Dolls” but that’s probably not it. Women shoveling dirt into wheelbarrows opens the scene as a familiar face pushes hers to a truck. A fellow inmate makes an awkward distraction as the familiar one dashes under the tarp of a dump truck when the guards aren’t watching. Slick. IMBD fails me again on who she is, but my best guess is Dr Volcker who is listed as appearing last season. Doc dismounts awkwardly from the truck receiving poor scores from the judges “ 3, 2, 2, 3 ” But then she scurries to a very cool motorbike  waiting  with a sidecar. They arrive at a safe house in the woods. The driver removes his helmet to reveal himself as Oscar Kulanin. That was fast. It seems it was not long ago when Kulanin promised Abe Gold he was going to get someone out of prison and now that’s do

Twelve Hours

S4E5   Twelve Hours <>     <>     <> We open on a dark lit horizontal face, he’s sleeping but not for long as we hear noises that sounds like a bomb whistling then a scream and I’m thinking  another Gereon PTSD open. But no, Alfred wakes up in bed with Helga and then gets up to see what’s up. Walking down a dark hallway, we see a dim figure sitting before a fireplace and that’s twice now the directors have chosen this idea. I can’t help but wonder, “well what if Alfred doesn’t wake up till morning?" That reveal won’t look nearly as dramatic in daylight, plus Abe Gold just might fall asleep waiting all night with a lit cigarette in hand and burn down the place. “Good morning, Mr. Nyssen” but Alfred’s in no mood. Abe casually waves a gun at Al, “I’m here for the Blue Rothschild” and they quibble about this and that, but ultimately Abe paints the picture for Al  “. . . or I’ll put a bullet in your head.” Alfred sees the logic in that and goes to the bureau where
